Privacy Policy
Last updated 6 August 2026 · Applies to FocusLock for macOS and FocusLock for iPhone
FocusLock has no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising and no third-party SDKs. There is no FocusLock account and no FocusLock server. Syncing is optional, and when it is on it runs through your own iCloud account, which we cannot read.
What FocusLock stores
Everything the app knows about you is created by you using it:
- Sessions — when a focus session started and ended, how long it ran, and which focus area you labelled it with.
- Focus areas — the labels you create, such as "Deep Work" or "Admin".
- Settings — durations, working hours, timer face, theme, and the toggles you have set.
This is stored on your device. On macOS, preferences live in standard macOS settings and your session history lives in a local database in the app's container.
iCloud sync
FocusLock can sync the data above between your own devices so a session started on your Mac continues on your iPhone. This uses Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) private database, tied to your Apple Account.
Your synced data goes to your iCloud, not to us. It is stored in your account's private database. We operate no servers, we receive no copy of it, and we have no technical means of reading it.
Sync is optional. With it turned off, your sessions and settings stay on the device and are not transmitted anywhere.
While sync is enabled the app communicates with Apple's iCloud servers. Apple's handling of that data is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.
Sign in with Apple
Sign in with Apple is optional and exists so your devices can recognise one another. If you use it, we receive only the identifier Apple provides; we do not request your name or email, and we do not build a profile from it. You can stop using it at any time from Settings, and revoke it in your Apple Account settings.
What FocusLock does not do
No analytics or usage tracking. No telemetry. No crash-reporting SDK. No advertising, and no advertising identifiers. No third-party trackers. Nothing about how you work is collected, sold, rented or shared, because it never reaches us in the first place.
Purchases
If FocusLock Pro is offered, purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. The app asks Apple whether a purchase is active in order to unlock the corresponding features; that check happens on your device.
Screen and app access
On macOS, FocusLock can show a full-screen overlay during breaks and can send a distracting app to the background while a session is running. It does this through standard macOS APIs, entirely on your Mac. It does not read the contents of your screen, your documents or other apps' data, and nothing about which apps you use is transmitted.
Your data, your control
- Stop syncing — turn iCloud sync off in Settings. Existing local data stays on the device.
- Delete synced data — remove FocusLock's data from iCloud in your device's iCloud storage settings.
- Delete everything — deleting the app removes its local data from that device.
Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf, and no export we can produce for you.
Children
FocusLock is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. As above, it does not collect personal information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If the app's behaviour changes in a way that affects this policy, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it. Version 2.0 introduced optional iCloud sync and optional Sign in with Apple; earlier versions of this policy described an app with no network features at all, and no longer describe what ships.
